Dolly had a rather unusual entrance into this world. Her dam, Ocala, was on day 143 of her gestation with Dolly and her 2 siblings. I heard Ocala crying the "death cry". I rushed to the barn to see who was dying and did very quick math in my head to see if the babies would even have a chance, if I were to perform a c-section. Day 143 is very good odds. I rushed back inside to my kidding kit, where I keep a scalpel for this exact scenario. Soon after getting back to Ocala's side, she collapsed and died. I immediately started cutting and cut out Dolly and her brother and sister. They all were alive! A terrible and wonderful day, all in one! We are excited to see what she has with Drip in early 2026!
